|
|
The largest program operated by Community Action Kentucky, the energy assistance program helped approximately 240,000 low income families pay over $31 million in heating bills in the 2006-2007 heating season. Customers are helped with natural gas, electric bills, and bulk fuels such as: propane, fuel oil, wood, and kerosene. Community Action Kentucky provides administration, training, and monitoring of the statewide program and subcontracts with the 23 Community Action Agencies for program intake and implementation.

Many of the households are vulnerable families with members that are elderly, disabled, or have small children. The association operates a year round toll-free hotline that gives information about the program to vendors, agencies, and prospective consumers. This information to consumers may include program guidelines, application procedures, site locations, Public Service Commission regulations regarding utility services, and more. |
